Dental Changes In Children With Congenital Zika Syndrome
Abstract Objective To describe oral alterations in children with Congenital ZikaSyndrome (CZS). Methods This was acase series, whose research instrument was a structured questionnaire, associated with the use of medical record data and extra and intraoral clinical examination. Results 32 children were evaluated, the majority male (18/32%‐56.3%), mean age22 months (SD = 2.71). It was also observed that the majority of the patients (19/32%‐59.4%) presented a low family income. All the...

Prevalence, type distribution, and risk factors for oral HPV in Danish renal transplant recipients
Abstract Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a causal agent of cervical cancer and other anogenital malignancies such as cancers of the vulva, vagina, penis, and anus (Bouvard et al., 2009) and a subset of head‐and‐neck carcinomas (Ndiaye et al., 2014). Studies have shown that renal transplant recipients (RTRs) are at increased risk of infections such as Epstein‐Barrs virus and human herpesvirus‐8 (Ammatuna et al., 2001; Le, 2016). Furthermore, RTRs have an increased risk of a wide range of malignant...

Re: Randomized double-blind clinical trial evaluation of bone healing after third molar surgery with the use of leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin
The authors appreciate the comments concerning our study1, which will help to clarify some important points. The combination of cone beam computed tomography and histomorphometric analysis is certainly the gold standard to measure the real effect of leukocyte- and platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) on bone healing, but this is not feasible after third molar extractions for ethical reasons.

Denture-reversing technique for assessing the soft tissue dimensional changes according to artificial tooth position in completely edentulous patients
Publication date: Available online 18 November 2019Source: The Journal of Prosthetic DentistryAuthor(s): Kyung Chul Oh, Jee-Hwan Kim, Nahong Kim, Hong Seok MoonAbstractA digital workflow to assess the soft tissue dimensional changes in completely edentulous patients is described. Diagnostic casts obtained at 2 time points and the complete denture were scanned by using a desktop scanner. The denture scan was inverted by using a metrology software program to obtain the soft tissue contour. Using this...

Fabricating a crown under an existing removable partial denture with impression scanning and CAD-CAM technology
Publication date: Available online 18 November 2019Source: The Journal of Prosthetic DentistryAuthor(s): Ju-Hyoung LeeAbstractRetrofitting a new crown to an existing removable partial denture (RPD) is a challenging procedure. Recently, intraoral scanners (IOSs) have been successfully used to solve this issue. However, purchase of IOSs is necessary, and most clinicians still use the conventional impression technique. This article describes a combined conventional and digital approach to fabricating...

Dual-space technique for creating cement space in a cementation device for implant dentistry: A predictable chairside approach
Publication date: Available online 18 November 2019Source: The Journal of Prosthetic DentistryAuthor(s): Jonathan Esquivel, Alfonso PiñeyroAbstractAs residual excess cement in peri-implant tissues is a problem that can lead to implant failure, great care must be taken when delivering cement-retained crowns. Cement selection, prosthetic design, and cementation techniques can reduce the chances of having excess cement in peri-implant tissues. Multiple techniques have been described, but, in many, the...
