Finger-pressing: a simple and efficient way to stop chyle leak post neck dissection
Abstract Purpose Postoperative chyle leak (CL) is a rare but severe complication after neck dissection. Conservative first-line treatments, such as total parenteral nutrition (TPN), octreotide and pressure dressing, can significantly prolong the hospital stay. Efficient and well-tolerated conservative treatment options are still lacking. Methods We have developed...

Zoledronic acid and skeletal-related events in patients with bone metastatic cancer or multiple myeloma
Abstract Introduction Investigations of ZA effectiveness using large, real-world databases are rare. We examined whether zoledronic acid (ZA) decreased the risk of skeletal-related events (SREs) among patients with bone metastases (BMs) from breast cancer (BC) or prostate cancer (PC), or multiple myeloma (MM) in routine clinical practice. Materials and methods ...

Metabolomics analysis in adults with High Bone Mass identifies a relationship between bone resorption and circulating citrate which replicates in the general population
Abstract Objective Bone turnover, which regulates bone mass, may exert metabolic consequences, particularly on markers of glucose metabolism and adiposity. To better understand these relationships, we examined cross‐sectional associations between bone turnover markers (BTMs) and metabolic traits in a population with high bone mass (HBM, BMD Z‐score≥+3.2). Design β‐C‐terminal telopeptide of type‐I collagen (β‐CTX), procollagen type‐1 amino‐terminal propeptide (P1NP) and osteocalcin were...

Apparent mineralocorticoid excess as a side effect of ketoconazole therapy in a patient with Cushing’s disease
Abstract Severe hypercortisolism in Cushing’s syndrome may lead to a syndrome of apparent mineralocorticoid excess.1 The mineralocorticoid receptor is nonselective and has similar affinities for aldosterone and cortisol.2 In fact, the specificity of aldosterone for its renal receptor actually depends on the local inactivation of cortisol by kidney type 2 11β‐hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase,2 an enzymatic inactivation that may be overridden when very large amounts of cortisol are present.

The KWAK TI‐RADS and 2015 ATA guidelines for medullary thyroid carcinoma: combination with cell block‐assisted ultrasound‐guided thyroid fine‐needle aspiration
Abstract Objective To compare the value of the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System proposed by Kwak (KWAK TI‐RADS) and the 2015 American Thyroid Association (ATA) guidelines for diagnosis of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and confirm the role of cell block (CB)‐assisted fine‐needle aspiration (FNA) in the final diagnosis of MTC. Methods Ninety‐three patients with 29 MTCs, 31 PTCs, and 33 follicular adenomas (FAs) who underwent thyroidectomy...
