Ensuring Sustainability of Needed Antibiotics: Aiming for the DART Board: Antibiotic resistance has been a major concern in the past few decades. Current initiatives to incentivize the development of antibiotics for resistant pathogens have yielded disappointing results because many recently approved antibiotics do not address clinical unmet needs or provide redundant coverage. In this article, the authors propose a different approach for guiding development of new antibiotics to combat resistant organisms.
