- Human biological variation in sesamoid bone prevalence: the curious case of the fabellaThe fabella, a sesamoid bone in the knee, is ~3.5× more common today than 100 years ago. We performed meta‐analyses on prevalence rate studies from 1875–2019, and found (i) fabellae are more common in men, older individuals, and Asian/Oceania populations than women, younger individuals, and North American/African populations (ii) 72.94% of cases are bilateral, and (iii) among unilateral cases, there is anti‐symmetry. This supports the roles both

- Genetic Polymorphisms in the Vitamin D Pathway and Non-small Cell Lung Cancer SurvivalAbstract Various genetic polymorphisms have been linked to lung cancer susceptibility and survival outcomes. Vitamin D (VD) regulates cell proliferation and differentiation, inhibits tumor growth and induces apoptosis. Observations from several previous studies including our own suggest that genetic polymorphisms in the VD pathway may be associated with lung cancer risk. The aim of this study is to assess if genetic polymorphis

- Whole‐genome sequencing of synchronous thyroid carcinomas identifies aberrant DNA repair in thyroid cancer dedifferentiationAbstract The genetics underlying thyroid cancer dedifferentiation is only partly understood and has not yet been characterized using comprehensive pan‐genomic analyses. We investigated a unique case with synchronous follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC), poorly differentiated thyroid carcinoma (PDTC) and anaplastic thyroid carcinoma (ATC), as well as regional lymph node metastases from the PDTC and ATC from a single patient using whole‐genome seque
